Class Descriptions

Level 1

Classes are designed for the beginning student to learn the essential elements of a traditional hatha yoga practice. Teachers instruct basic postures, the core actions that support and open the body, linking movement to breath, connecting postures sequentially, and focusing attention. Students learn the consistent language used to instruct technique in the Dynamic Yoga Method. Level 1 classes build strength, stamina and flexibility, while focusing on structural alignment and stability.

Level 2

Classes reinforce and refine the actions and methods learned in the Level 1 class in a wider variety of postures and spinal positions. Teachers begin to instruct students on the art of self-correction by reinforcing awareness that adjustments in the body are accomplished through spiraling actions. Level 2 classes are accessible to the experienced beginner and continuing student.

Level 3

Classes assume that students have cultivated prior training in the first levels, and know how to modify challenging situations to accommodate their unique bodies. Level 3 classes introduce students to more challenging moving and static postures and sequences. Classic inversions (Head stand and Shoulder stand) are instructed and refined at this level. The Level 3 class offers a chance to clarify and challenge the student’s limitations in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere.

All-Levels

Classes are basic enough for beginners, yet still challenging for the intermediate/experienced student. Some prior experience is helpful, but not necessary, as the teacher will assist inexperienced students with modifications in class.

Gentle Yoga /Restorative
