Are you curious about yoga and its benefits, but unsure of what to expect or where to start?
Whether you are brand new to yoga, or are returning to yoga after a break, you are in the right place. Here at Jane’s House, we have several starting points to offer you that are carefully crafted to help you start yoga, develop the fundamental skills to feel successful, and most importantly, to have fun!
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I bring to class?
Bring a good quality mat and wear comfortable clothing. Mats are available for use and/or purchase at the studio.
Will I need additional props?
While you are always welcome to bring your own props, Jane’s House has blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters, knee pads, resistance bands, sandbags, foam rollers, soft tissue rolling balls and other props available for your need. The teachers will offer these if needed and teach you how and why we use them.
Is there a minimum age to join?
Jane’s House offers yoga for all ages. If you are looking for Yoga for children, we offer Youth Yoga in Series, separate from the on-going schedule. Children learn best through play, and while there is much to be gained in an adult class, their needs are much more easily met in a class specifically tailored for them.
Am I too old to begin?
If you can breathe, you can practice yoga! Fortunately, at Jane’s House we have classes that meet the needs of any age and/or need. For more accessibility and support, look for “Gentle Yoga” - “Chair Yoga” - “Restorative Yoga” or inquire into private yoga classes.
Can I practice yoga if I am not flexible?
YES! Everyone starts from where they are! Jane’s House teachers will invite you to move through your range of motion, with subtle resistance, and repeat the movements in the joints before holding, so you find the place to be with no strain or force. It’s not about making a shape; it is about the quality of your experience, so you feel stable and at ease inside of right effort.
