Yoga Classes
Our natural state of being is a relaxed, open alertness characterized by contentment and well-being. This is innate. Evolutionarily we’re wired to be here in a profoundly attuned way. Even in our modern world with all its hurries and distractions, presence doesn’t need to be a random occurrence. We can actively enhance our ability to rest in this balanced state, to recognize when we’ve left, and to return more reliably.

Our classes that offer both effort and ease
-
This class is designed for beginning students to learn the core actions that structurally opens and supports the body. The instructors use a consistent language that supports a practice of self-inquiry. At the heart of every class taught in this studio, is an invitation to watch yourself being present in both movement and stillness. Emphasis is on technique, linking movement to breath and focusing attention.
-
This class reinforces and refines the actions taught in the beginning level practice. It offers a wider variety of movements that challenge the students in new ways. More complex spinal movements and physical effort are added. The invitation to be open and honest will support you at the juncture where effort brings to light challenge. It is here where you can search for the right actions to balance the intensity that manifests joyful steadiness, in body, breath and mind. This class is open to experienced beginner and continuing students.
-
This practice is accessible for students of all-levels. It offers the support and modifications needed for a beginning student, while giving those who seek more challenge or longer holds an equal experience.
-

Our classes that offer more support
-
This class is designed for students who are seeking little effort in the practice. The majority of the postures are close to the floor, such as supine, side and prone. The class is also ideal for those who may be coming off of recent surgery or preparing for surgery and need modifications, the use of a chair or more support.
-
Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper into the tissues. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
-
Chair Yoga is an accessible class for anyone who would feel more stable with balance with the assistance of a chair. It is also for students that do not feel comfortable and stable in their bodies transferring to and from the floor up to standing. Some of this class is taught while students are seated comfortably on their chair with some standing behind the chair if that is what is desired.
-
Prenatal Yoga is a beautiful way to support both mom and baby in this growing process. The classes are designed to prepare for the birthing process by teaching breathwork, strengthening, stretching and deep relaxation. The group classes are beneficial for moms to connect during this time of pregnancy to build a community of support for one another. This class is open to all stages of pregnancy.
Our classes that offer restoration & meditation
-
This class captures the full experience of yoga. You will move your body in an asana practice to prepare for some time in stillness with breath and meditation. Ideal for students who crave more time in meditation.
-
Each class uses Restorative Postures to support and open the body. A restorative yoga practice can lead toward a more healing and recuperative experience and offers a host of wonderful benefits especially for one with chronic stress.
A restorative practice frequently relies on the use of props and the prolonged holding of a few simple poses to achieve a deep level of relaxation. Teresa combines Yoga Nidra with this restorative practice.
-
This class begins with soft tissue rolling and is combined with easy movements to connect you to your body and breath. The class ends with the nurturing experience of restorative postures that will connect you to the more subtle realms of your being.
